Legislation introduced by Rep. Max Rose to help law enforcement crack down on 'ghost guns' passed Wednesday in the House Committee on Homeland Security.   

A ghost gun is defined as an unregistered and untraceable weapon sold and assembled without a serial number. Rep. Max Rose says ghost guns bring a threat to law enforcement.

The bill, called "The Homeland Security Assessment of Terrorists' Use of Ghost Guns Act," would provide local law enforcement the information they need to understand the threat of ghost guns. He says the bill would require the Department of Homeland Security to develop and disseminate an annual terrorism threat assessment regarding the availability of ghost guns.

Rose's bill was supported by the New York Police Department and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. The congressman wanted to honor law enforcement by passing this bill during Police Week celebrations.
