Police and the ASPCA broke up an alleged cockfighting ring in Bushwick Wednesday night, rescuing dozens of animals.
According to the New York Daily News, authorities shut down the Pet NV store on Central Avenue.
The NYPD Animal Cruelty Unit sent out a Tweet Wednesday thanking the ASPCA for help in rescuing 101 animals from the pet store.
Authorities carted out dozens of roosters, hens, exotic birds and a puppy, according to the Daily News. It's unclear if all the animals were being abused.
The roosters were kept in metal cages in the backyard of the store and their food was kept in garbage cans.
According to the report, the incident isn't the first time the store has been in hot water over animal fighting. The store's owner was arrested for alleged fighting in 2014.
