Rice High School narrowly lost to St. Benedict?s High School 55-52 at Madison Square Garden Tuesday in a match-up of boys basketball powerhouses.
Rice gave the top-ranked boys basketball team in the country, from Newark, a run for their money. They even tied the contest at 49-49 with a minute to play. But St. Benedict?s ultimately came out on top.
Kembre Walker led Rice with 18 points and won the sportsmanship award in the contest.
The match was part of the Nike Super 6 Invitational and featured some other local teams.
St. Raymond?s, who lost a thriller to Rice just days ago, took on St. Patrick?s High School from Elizabeth, NJ, falling 64-56. Darryl Bryant led St. Raymond?s with 17 points.
