Teams from as far away as Canada and Russia competed against athletes from the Bronx in the 10th-annual Big Apple Mayor?s Cup field hockey tournament at DeWitt Clinton High School.
Rye Field Hockey Club was successful in its quest to win back-to-back men?s titles with a win over Toronto. Rye defeated Toronto in a tight 1-0 game.
Organizers say the four-day tournament has had competitors from nearly every continent throughout the years. Other foreign teams competing this year came from Barbados, England and Jamaica.
