The Salvation Army is holding a summer program focused on healthy eating for school children in Bridgeport.
The Bridgeport Salvation Army is spearheading the Eating Right Fueling Minds initiative at Trumbull Gardens.
Each weekday through Aug. 5, kids at Trumbull Gardens are provided a lunch through the school district.
The event includes games, story time and a lemonade stand.
The Salvation Army is also providing meals for the children's parents.
Officials say on Wednesdays and Fridays, the kids are given books too.
The Salvation Army has been organizing the program for the past several years in Bridgeport neighborhoods.
The organization says the program wouldn't be possible without the support of countless volunteers.
