Sen. Chuck Schumer joined Revel on Monday to take the rideshare and electric vehicle company's one-millionth zero-emission ride.

Revel says that this ride has now helped them offset over four million pounds of vehicle-based carbon emissions.

In June, Sen. Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announced working alongside Revel through $25 million in emergency funding for New York City to help develop safe charging facilities for e-bikes.

Monday's event comes just two weeks before the anniversary of the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act, which helped to create funding and programs to support electric vehicle infrastructure and lower electric vehicle ownership costs through $2.5 billion in funding.

The Department of Transportation says gas vehicles count for 30% of the city's greenhouse gas emissions.

The largest and fastest charging station in the country is located at 467 Marcy Ave. Revel employees said it’s just the beginning.

"We have about 50 DCFC plugs operating in New York, we hope to make that 150 by the end of this year and 350 by the end of next year," Jake Potent, director of Policy and Government Affairs at Revel said.

Revel employees told News 12 that the charging stations are making electrical vehicles more accessible – all users have to do is park and plug in for 20 minutes. The fast-charging stations are open to the public for anyone with an electric car.
