Brooklyn residents plan to gather at a Sheepshead Bay handball court memorial Monday to honor the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks.
Morris Park resident Ray Fiore painted the memorial for six days straight. Fiore says he started the memorial by painting the name of his friend with an American flag after the attacks five years ago. Brooklyn residents then started adding names to the wall.
Each year Fiore repaints a different section to keep the memorial fresh. Some residents in the neighborhood have also formed a committee to help preserve the memorial.
The candlelight vigil will be held in Bill Brown Park at 7 p.m.
