A group of volunteers are on a spring cleaning mission to tidy up Prospect Park, claiming the city needs to do a better job at keeping the area presentable. The Prospect Park Litter Mob was organized in May 2011 and meets every two weeks to keep the park in good shape. They say the Parks Department's small budget leads workers to neglect green spaces across the city. Officials say two-thirds of Prospect Park's operating budget is derived from the non-profit Prospect Park Alliance, and visitors say more residents should volunteer.
