A new statue of Mother Cabrini was unveiled in Battery Park Monday.
More than 1,000 Catholics marched through the streets of Carroll Gardens last year calling for the city to reexamine its decision not to include Mother Cabrini as part of the She Built NYC Initiative after she received the most nominations in a public poll.
A week later, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said a statue of Mother Cabrini would go up.
Mother Cabrini was known for her work with orphans and immigrants.
Her statue now stands tall in Battery Park right along the Hudson River, looking directly at the Statue of Liberty.
