A Brooklyn organization says that although violence tends to rise during the summer months, it is doing its best to keep youths off the streets.
Dozens of local youths aged 12 to 21 participated in a free basketball tournament, called "Stop the Violence," Saturday in Bedford-Stuyvesant, in order to steer violence away from the community.
The tournament is run by a local camp and nonprofit organization named after the neighborhood it is based in.
Tournament organizer Harold Robinson says the games serve as a way to keep kids busy and active.
The participants will play games every Saturday and Sunday through the end of August.
