Brooklyn Community Board 3 is calling for the liquor license to be revoked from Amour Cabaret, a Bed-Stuy strip club, following Tuesday morning’s deadly shooting of a 26-year-old man.
Police say a dispute started while the suspect and victim were waiting to get in the club.
The Community Board claims the club draws violence and illegal activity to the area, and it's not a positive reflection of the neighborhood. Board members say the safety of the community is their top priority.
"In the wake of this issue happening is to ensure that businesses like this cannot stay here. So right now, we are in the process of ensuring, dealing with the state, dealing with the local police precinct, and dealing with our local elected officials to ensure that this business gets their liquor license revoked," said Tywan Anthony of Community Board 3 on Friday.
The state liquor authority says in January, they charged the club's license holder with becoming a police focal point and with lack of supervision.
The license holder pleaded not guilty.
Later that month, the license holder was also charged with 35 building, health, and safety code violations. The holder must respond to those charges by March 18.
The liquor authority also tells News 12 Brooklyn it reached out to the NYPD for reports about the shooting on March 3.
