Tenants in Crown Heights are pushing for a rent freeze ahead of the Rent Guidelines Board vote on whether to hike rents on the city's stabilized units.
The board will vote on June 23 whether to raise rents or not, but the Crown Heights Tenants Union is fighting for a rent freeze.
The Rent Stabilization Association released a television ad against a rent freeze.They represent landlords who want to see rents go up because they say maintaining rental units in New York is costly.
The board will have a hearing in Brooklyn next Wednesday at Borough Hall. Both landlords and tenants plan to be there to make their case.
