The timeline of events leading to Mayor Eric Adams' indictment

Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted by a grand jury on federal criminal charges, according to the Associated Press. This comes after weeks of searches, subpoenas and resignations of top officials in the city.

Below is a timeline of the events that lead up to the Mayor Adams indictment:

November 2, 2023 - Federal agents raided the home of a top fundraiser and longtime confidante to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who abruptly ditched a planned White House meeting and flew home from Washington. Agents searched the home of Brianna Suggs in Brooklyn.

November 6, 2023 - FBI agents seized phones and an iPad from Mayor Adams.

November 15, 2023 - Mayor Adams sets up legal fund to pay for FBI inquiries, monitored by city's conflict of interest board.

February 29, 2024 - FBI searches Bronx home of Adams’ top advisors Winnie Greco.

August 2024 - Federal prosecutors issue grand jury subpoenas to Mayor Adams, city hall and his 2021 election committee.

September 4, 2024- FBI searches homes of Sheena Wright, Phil Banks and Terrence Banks.

September 5, 2024 - Feds seize cell phones of NYPD officials, including Commissioner Edward Caban.

September 12, 2024 - Edward Caban resigns as commissioner of NYPD.

September 14, 2024 - City Hall Chief Counsel Lisa Zornberg resigns.

September 16, 2024 - Retired FDNY Chiefs Brian Cordasco & Anthony Scannavino arrested after corruption investigation

September 20, 2024 - Molly Schaeffer, director overseeing city's Office for Asylum Seekers, gets subpoenaed.

September 21, 2024 - Feds search home of interim NYPD Commissioner Tom Donlon.

September 23, 2024 - NYC Health Commissioner Dr. Ashwin Vasan announces resignation effective 2025.

September 24, 2024 - Schools Chancellor David Banks announces retirement at end of 2024.
