More than 2,000 cyclists turned out to ride in the second annual Tour de Brooklyn Sunday. The event is sponsored by Transportation Alternatives and the Brooklyn borough president?s office. The tour is free and Brooklyn residents say they enjoy the experience of the 18-mile, three-hour ride. Organizers say the cyclists tour historical neighborhoods in Brooklyn. The goal of the event organizers say, is to celebrate cycling?s popularity and expose cyclists to new bike lanes. Members from Transportation Alternatives say they have already begun planning for next year?s Tour de Brooklyn, which may start off in Greenpoint.
