March is Endometriosis Awareness month and advocates are using a documentary to help inform communities about the disease.
Endometriosis is a disease in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus and can be very painful and sometimes cause fertility issues.
Experts say the disease affects one in nine women.
Because it's so common yet so seldomly discussed, Arliegh Cole along with other advocates are starting the conversation in Fairfield County with the documentary “Below the Belt.”
"It really highlights all of the issues with the disease from politics all the way down to being dismissed as a female in the doctor's office," says Cole.
