A vigil at Bennett Park Friday night called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump after supporters violently stormed into the Capitol Wednesday.
Congressmember Adriano Espaillat, other local officials and community members participated in the vigil.
Neighbors held candles and signs. They also offered prayers for the healing of the country and the moral crisis they say we are going through.
Demonstrators also condemned Trump’s actions on Wednesday as domestic terrorism and treason.
Espaillat says he plans to reiterate his call for Trump's impeachment when he returns to Congress next week.
He says anyone who collaborated with him should also be held accountable.
