The family of a Brownsville veteran was given a backyard makeover thanks to the kindness of volunteers.

Cassius Verneige, a U.S. Army veteran, served in the military for eight years before being honorable discharged.

He and his family were paid a visit Wednesday by volunteers from The Home Depot Foundation and the Harlem Youth Marine Cadets to transform their backyard. 

The makeover project included a patio swing, custom-built furniture and a picnic table.
