Family and friends gathered in Williamsburg Sunday for the wake of fallen firefighter Daniel Pujdak.
Pujdak died Thursday after he fell four stories from a Williamsburg building during a fire.
Dozens of uniformed firefighters lined the entrance to Evergreen Funeral Home and hundreds waited on line to pay respects, including Pujdak?s former classmates from high school and college. Classmates described him as friendly, caring and compassionate.
Others who turned out did not know Pujdak but wanted to pay their respects. Many said they were sad and angry and felt his death could have been prevented.
The Meserole Street building where Pujdak died was never approved to be a residential building. The New York City Department of Buildings said it issued a violation there because most of the apartments on the top floor did not have two exits.
