City Councilman Oliver Kopell says he'll fund a security camera for Williamsbridge Oval Park that community activists have been calling for. A few months ago, there was a string of crimes in which people were mugged and held at knifepoint at all hours of the day. Though extra officers were dispatched to the park and surrounding area for a few weeks, community activists are now asking the city to install a security camera at the park exit they say is the most dangerous. Councilman Koppell says he'll fund one camera for the park. He also wants to place four more cameras in crime-ridden areas of his district, to be determined in July. Activisits who spoke to News 12 The Bronx say they hope to one day have a camera positioned at each of the five park exits.
