New York prepares to provide aid as Hurricane Milton heads toward Florida

Officials say that in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, 221 emergency personnel and National Guard members were sent to the southern states to assist in recovery efforts.

As Hurricane Milton grows in strength, Gov. Kathy Hochul posted to X saying she is prepared to lend the southern states a hand.

Officials say that in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, 221 emergency personnel and National Guard members were sent to the southern states to assist in recovery efforts.

She is says she is prepared to do the same for Hurricane Milton.

Many Florida airports are announcing closures and canceling flights in preparation for the storm.

Hurricane Milton poses no threat to New York, the New York City Department of Emergency Management announced on Tuesday.

Milton is expected to be stronger than Helene.

The storm will make landfall in Florida late Wednesday evening through early Thursday morning.
