An 18-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot at a basketball court near a school on East 81st Street Wednesday night.
Police say the victim was shot in the head at the basketball court next to IS-68 around 5:40 p.m. He was quickly rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he is currently fighting for his life.
Police have taken one person into custody but have not confirmed whether charges will be filed. Authorities are still searching for a second individual in connection with the shooting.
Just three weeks ago, two 17-year-olds were shot nearby, and another 17-year-old was injured in a separate shooting on Flatlands Avenue earlier last month.
