Bald eagle spotted in Malverne family’s backyard
The national bird began circling overhead as the Malandros were outside eating dinner.

One Nassau County family got quite the sight in the sky in their own backyard Tuesday evening.
A bald eagle began circling overhead the Malandros as they were eating dinner outside of their Malverne home around 6 p.m.
“It was maybe 40-50 feet above us, made two big circles above and then landed in a tree in our neighbor’s backyard,” Lindsey Malandro told News 12.
The animal stood perched in the tree, easily in view, for about 20 minutes, before flying away.
“Our 4-year-old and 3-year-old got their binoculars and also were in awe at this magnificent bird,” Malandro recalled.
Bald eagles, the national bird and national symbol of the United States, are found throughout New York State, more typically in areas with large bodies of water.
