Students will get the message to stay in school through a radio campaign announced by education advocates Thursday.

The organization Directions for Our Youth is joining forces with LaMega/Amor, Power 105.1 and WBLS to launch the New York City Dropout Prevention Campaign. Ads will air encouraging students to make the grade and radio personalities, such as Deja Vu and Dr. Bob Lee, will visit public schools.

Advocates believe parents play a major role in keeping kids in the classroom, saying learning begins at home.

The ads start airing October 8. Directions for Our Youth will also distribute calendars to underserved schools.

According to the group, about 8,000 Bronx students drop out of high school each year; 20,000 drop out citywide.
