Some of the newest graduates of a local job training program had to spend months traveling to New York City for a fresh start.

Asylum seekers are one step closer to the American Dream after completing a 16-week Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) job training course with the help of the Brookyln-based nonprofit Mixteca.

The organization is run out of Sunset Park and provides support for migrants and others in the community.

Some of the graduates say the journey to this point was long, but worth all the obstacles.

"Mixteca was the first place that really helped me because when you get to this country you don't have anything and like they were the first ones to help me to develop my skills and continue my growth," says Marco Andonio.

Organizers say the graduation is a second chance at a new life for some of the asylum seekers.
