An audit by the comptroller?s office finds the new high school application process is working for Brooklyn and city students.Last year the city changed its highly competitive admissions process for incoming high school students. In the past, students were only allowed to apply to a handful of schools in the borough. If they were not accepted to the school of their choice, they would then have to attend a school in their neighborhood even if they didn?t want to. The new applications are designed to give Brooklyn students more choices. They can apply to up to 12 schools and are then matched with schools based on their academics performance, grades and standardized test scores.
