Dozens of families marched Saturday in honor of infant loss awareness – many having lost a baby themselves.
Brooke and Colin Smith created the event after losing their daughter in 2014. That year they started their nonprofit, The Baby Resource Center.
“We realized that other families have gone through similar situations. We were blessed to receive help from many so we wanted to pay it forward," said Colin Smith.

The Smith family, along with their son Jackson, walked Saturday to pay homage to those infants who didn’t make it home.
Brooke Smith says “24,000 families are losing babies every year.” She says that includes 1,400 families in New York.
The event ended on the steps of Brooklyn Borough Hall with candles and a moment of silence.
