Local skateboarders say the park they frequent in Bronx Park is devoid of rules they say could help them and others avoid injuries.
A sign outside the park advises everyone to "skate at your own risk." Skateboarders say that risk is becoming too high and that they're frustrated by the number of children between the ages of 5 and 7 who ride bikes and scooters around the park without supervision.
They say skateboarders have hurt themselves tying to avoid hitting the younger children. "Little kids get in danger when the bigger kids are moving faster and the boards are flying around, so rules would be good," says John Figueroa.
Most skaters at the park say they hope the rules can be created as soon as possible.
