The New York City Parks Department unveiled the newly renovated Wakefield Playground to the community on Friday morning.
The $5.2 million renovation was through the Community Parks Initiative.
The Wakefield Playground is now decked out with all new equipment, two new basketball courts, a junior soccer field and spray showers just in time to beat the heat.
Kids and parents from P.S. 16 were in attendance today, joined by elected officials.
Those in attendance today say that a lot of parks and playgrounds in the Bronx need the care and love that the Wakefield Playground received, and that this is just the beginning.
