6h agoA Bronx woman who has been volunteering with the New York City Marathon for nearly 40 years is being commemorated for her service.
Since 1985 Judy Birch has been volunteering with the NYC Marathon, first working as a volunteer reuniting runners with their families at the race's end and now supervising the handing out of medals at the grand finish.
Next week, the 75-year-old will be inducted into the New York Road Runners Volunteer Hall of Fame - an accomplishment that Birch credits to the family of volunteers she's made.
In 38 years of volunteer work, Birch says she's only run the marathon twice - in 2003 and 2013. She says she's dedicated to helping others cross the finish line and won't stop anytime soon.
