Brooklyn residents visited Red Hook Community Farm this weekend for the annual 'Pumpkin Smash' event.
Attendees smashed their pumpkins into compost, rather than let them end up in the trash.
Organizers say some of the actual compost is used to grow vegetables at the Red Hook Community Farm.
The event is hosted by Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
