The Brownsville Recreation Center was packed Saturday as the community celebrated the last day of Black History Month.

The manager, Jerry Childs, has worked at the center for more than two decades. He says the center is the hub of the community and celebrates Black History Month every day of the year.

People came together for a double dutch competition as well as other fun activities for people of all ages.

The staff says everyone is welcome at the center and it should be a safe space for all.
