Plans may be in the works to beef up security on the Metro-North Railroad and many Bronx straphangers say any increased security measures would be good idea.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) says MTA police currently perform random bag checks on the Metro-North Railroad, but it is continually adding new programs to ensure the safety of its customers. Most commuters say they wouldn?t mind more frequent bag checks.
Some Metro-North passengers suggest a new plan should require all riders to be screened as opposed to random searches. Meanwhile, the MTA says the biggest obstacle to implementing any new security plan is a lack of federal funding.
