Brooklyn lawmakers are demanding mandatory MTA notifications when bedbugs are discovered on trains and buses.
The pesky insects have been spotted on several different subway trains in recent weeks, including the N, Q and 6 lines. An N line train was recently taken out of service to be exterminated after a conductor found a bedbug bite.
Proposed legislation would require the transit agency to inform the public within 24 hours of any bedbug cases on all mass transit. It also calls for the city agency to detail how it is resolving the issue.
There is currently no formal notification policy in terms of letting riders known about bedbug problems.
