Some community leaders met with city officials at Borough Hall Thursday to discuss their concerns about the Atlantic Rail Yards project.
The project is expected to bring new housing developments and a sports arena to the area. City and state officials say business will soon be booming in downtown Brooklyn. However, community leaders worry the boom will leave the surrounding area a mess. They say the community?s trash pick up is already strained and believe the extra trash from the arena will litter the streets. Another issue brought up at the meeting was pollution. City officials have assured the community that city services will not be compromised.
This was the last scheduled meeting for the Atlantic Rail Yards Committee. Members say they will continue to voice their concerns about the project as they arise.
