Closing arguments were presented Wednesday for two of the three men accused of fatally shooting a New York City police officer and wounding his partner in 2007.

The separate jury hearing the individual case of suspect Robert Ellis spent all of Wednesday deliberating, while the separate jury for Lee Woods heard closing arguments. Dexter Bostic, Robert Ellis and Lee Woods are all facing murder charges in the death of Detective Russel Timoshenko. The three are facing additional charges in the shooting of Detective Herman Yan.

Woods has maintained he was only the driver of the vehicle, while Bostic?s attorney said there is not enough evidence to prove that his client fired the shot that killed Timoshenko. According to Woods? attorney, his client had no idea the shooting would take place. During the trial, however, experts testified that both men left DNA traces on the weapons used in the shooting.

Ellis also claims he was the driver of the car. His attorney has built a defense case on the absence of his client?s DNA and fingerprints from the guns.
