A youth football team might not be able to play in the upcoming season because of equipment theft last month.
Coney Island Sharks coach Ellis Stephens says several helmets, shoulder pads and training gear were taken from the trailer where they were stored.
Stephens says he reported the incident to police, who say the case is still under investigation.
"They didn't just steal the helmets. It wasn't just robbing them, but you're robbing the future of young kids who have the aspiration to do something positive and constructive in the community," says Stephens.
The coach says the fate of the team's upcoming season is still up in the air.
