Family members and loved ones came together in Bed-Stuy Saturday in
honor the two-year anniversary of the day that one-year-old Davell Gardner was
fatally shot.
They declared July 16 Davell Gardner Day, which they said
is in effort to keep his memory alive forever and work toward ending gun
violence.
Gardner was shot and killed while sitting in his stroller
during a family barbecue in Brooklyn.
Those who came out barbecued, sang, danced and celebrated
the life of Gardner.
Organizers of the day said it was about
turning pain into purpose.
