Students at the Brooklyn Pathways to Graduation after-school program are learning how to repair recycled bicycles.
The biking boot camp program promises to teach the students how to repair the donated and recycled bicycles.
Teacher Ariff Hhaee says at the end of the program, the students get to keep the bicycle they were working on.
It's all part of the 'earn a bike program,' a collaboration with the nonprofit 'Recycle a Bike' and the city's Department of Transportation.
Students say they use the bikes in their daily lives as a method of transportation or exercise.
Hhaee says the students are all English as a Second Language learners, and when they repair bicycles, the students and teachers speak in English to each other as a way to better enhance their skills.
