Darien High School will have a two-hour delayed opening Monday, following the death of a student.
A message from Principal Ellen Dunn posted on the Darien High School Parents Association Facebook page Saturday said that the entire school community was shaken by the death of Hayden Thorsen.
The delayed open will allow for officials to have a faculty meeting and prepare to welcome students. School busses will also run on the two-hour delayed schedule.
Support staff was available to students, faculty and families over the weekend. Town officials in Darien and New Canaan also provided crisis support and grief counseling at the Darien Town Hall.
The junior prom, which was supposed to be held Saturday, was postponed to June 4.
