Are Brooklyn neighborhoods prepared for a natural disaster or terrorist attack? Emergency preparedness will be the topic of a town hall meeting in Brooklyn Thursday.
Local leaders feel not all neighborhoods in Brooklyn are prepared for disasters. City officials and several city groups are now getting the word out about a disaster preparedness program. At the meetings, residents will be informed about the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). CERT trains volunteer teams to inform, educate and train neighbors about emergency situations.
The city?s Office of Emergency Management says there is federal money available for emergency preparedness programs.
The meeting Thursday will be held at 29 Bay Street at 7:30 p.m.
