A Sheepshead Bay tenant says her building isn’t just run down, it’s dangerous.

Rosina Taffuri says scaffolding, rats and piles of garbage are just a few of the issues at 2750 Homecrest Ave.

"We're all very concerned. I mean, nothing is being done. Violations are being issued," Taffuri said.

She also says the garbage attracts rats creating serious health risks for residents.

From a distance, the building looks neglected.

Up close, rats scurry and dig new burrows.

A Department of Health sign shows bait has been placed since 2024 in an effort to control the infestation.

Building management told News 12 they conduct pest control outside twice a month.

The DOH referred News 12 to a public map showing bait locations.

Taffuri also pointed to crumbling scaffolding as a major hazard.

Photos from 2022 show concrete that fell from above. DOB violations filed this year, including one just last week, reflect the same concerns.

"They are so lucky it didn't fall on somebody walking into the garage," Taffuri said.

Currently, the building has 259 open HPD violations and nine open DOB violations.
