Loved ones gathered at the Christian Cultural Center Brooklyn for the funeral of Vincent Malveaux, the probationary firefighter who died a day after collapsing during training.
Thousands of members of the FDNY along with Vincent Malveaux's family and friends were present as they said their final goodbye and lay Malveaux to rest.
"Vincent I'll always remember the good times, the laughter, FDNY and citizens of NY," said one of his colleagues. "When we meet again we will go on another run."
Malveaux, 31, was a probationary firefighter who died early Friday in the hospital after suffering a medical episode during a training exercise on Randalls Island at the FDNY's training academy. He also previously worked as an FDNY EMT in the Bronx.
"Vincent had a dream to be a NYC Firefighter and this was clear he wanted it immediately," said mayor Bill de Blasio. "He saw his destiny …it's so painful to think he had so much promise was taken from us."
Malveaux will have a private burial in Red Hook.
