A fatal shooting in Crown Heights prompted some West Indian American Day festivities to be rerouted earlier this morning.
Police say a man opened fire into a crowd of people during the West Indian American Day festivities around 3:30 a.m. on Empire Boulevard in Crown Heights.
They say a man in his 20s was shot in the torso and died at Kings County Hospital. A 22-year-old woman who was shot in the ankle and a 22-year-old man who was shot in the leg are expected to be OK.
The investigation into the shooting prompted a partial closure of Empire Boulevard, forcing a portion of the festivities to be relocated.
No arrests have been made in the case, and the investigation is ongoing.
