Fire officials are warning Bronx residents to practice firework safety as the Fourth of July holiday approaches.
FDNY officials are warning against putting on illegal firework shows and advise residents to leave the displays to the professionals. The FDNY says it had to put out more than 1,000 fires and that more than 50 people suffered serious injuries on the Fourth of July in 1994.
This year, fire officials say they have already arrested more than a dozen people and seized more than $30,000 worth of fireworks.
