Several families are without a home Sunday night after a five-alarm fire in Kingsbridge Heights.
The FDNY said the fire started shortly before 7:30 p.m. on the first floor of one of the homes on Devoe Terrace and West 190th Street.
A News 12 crew witnessed at least three residential homes up in flames and dozens of first responders on scene.
NYPD helicopters and drones flew above, as heavy smoke filled the street below.
Jose Martinez, a neighbor across the street, said he was in his backyard when he heard someone screaming.
“Someone saying, ‘Fire! Fire!,’" Martinez said. “When we came out, everything was already on fire, big fire. It looked like a movie.”
A total of 14 people were injured, according to fire officials. Ten of them were hospitalized.
One firefighter remains in critical condition and three others are in serious but not life-threatening condition.
Four additional firefighters and a child were treated for minor injuries.
Officials say an EMS member was also injured.
A cause of the fire was known as of Sunday night.
