Flatbush community center offers help to Haiti hurricane victims
A community center in Flatbush is joining forces with different organizations and asking residents to help join the relief effort for those affected by Hurricane Matthew in Haiti.
Members of the Life of Hope Center are committed to raising awareness of the cruel situation facing those in Haiti. The Haitian consulate is working with the center to make sure items like food, shelter, medicine and clean water are provided for the devastated area.
Florenal Joseph, director of the Life of Hope Center, says the organization is working on a long-term project to build a water purification center using trees to protect people from infected water.
The center is asking the public's help in donating items. Donations can be dropped off to the center between the hours of 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
