The Fort Hamilton Distillery is ushering in a new revolution of whiskeys in Brooklyn and offering up a unique and exciting tasting and tour experience in New York City.
"The original cocktails were all made with rye, so we wanted to create that New York rye so you could really re-create the original cocktail,” says Fort Hamilton Distillery co-founder Amy Grindeland.
You can also taste their curated cocktails in their fortress bar, which is connected to the distillery. This includes their signature drink — a maple old fashioned, complete with bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup.
The spot is also family and dog friendly, with mocktails, juice and food also on the menu.
Fort Hamilton offers tours Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, where you can also get a chance to make your own bottle.
"It's a really unique opportunity to come down and support your local businesses, if you're traveling from out of town to really get a taste of New York,” says Grindeland.
