STORM WATCH: Light rain for Saturday; accumulating snow possible on Sunday

Here’s what you need to know:
  • It's very cold under a mostly clear sky this morning. Temperatures are in the mid to upper 20s. Wind chills are in the teens.
  • We catch a break from the bitter cold today with calmer winds and lots of sunshine. Temperatures will be seasonable in the low 40s.
  • A weak storm system will bring light rain Saturday afternoon between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. A lot has changed in the last 24 hours with Sunday's storm. Sunday will start off cloudy and cold. Light to moderate snow arrives after 1 p.m. through 1 a.m. The latest track has shifted north bringing accumulating snow to our area. The least amount of snow could be a coating to 2" with some mixing at the coast. The more likely scenario could be 2 to 4 inches with the worst-case scenario being 4 to 8 inches of snow. We'll continue to fine tune the forecast in the next 24 hours. Stay tuned for more details.
  • The core of the cold arrives Monday through Wednesday of next week. The dangerous cold weather will bring highs to the teens and lows in the single digits. Wind chills will range from the single digits to below zero. Temperatures slowly recover by the end of next week. No significant storm is expected through next weekend.
