People were pumping iron for a purpose at Retro Fitness in New City on Wednesday.
The gym held a fundraiser called "Lift For A Hero," in honor of fallen firefighter Jared Lloyd.
Lloyd died in the line of duty rescuing residents from Evergreen Court Assisted Living Home in Spring Valley back in March.
The gym's general manager says members have been supportive and donations started pouring in well before Wednesday.
"We started realizing that everything surrounding him was starting to dwindle a little bit, so we wanted to spark the fire - pun intended - surrounding him and I actually went to school with one of his son's mothers and figured this is the perfect time. Let's bring the memory of him, let's keep it alive and make sure it stays in Rockland County," says Retro Fitness general manager Ashley O'Leary.
The fundraiser included raffles and workout competitions.
All money raised will be donated to Lloyd's family.
