A New Jersey veteran was honored Friday for serving her country and making history.
Gladys Blunt, originally from East Orange, was a member of the nation's only all Black, all female World War II battalion unit. She is one of six surviving members.
The 100-year-old was one of 855 women chosen from over 6,000 Black women serving in the Army Air Corps and Service Corps during the war.
"I didn't think much of it,” she said. “I just thought it was part of the routine."
